Welcome back! I hope you’ve all had an amazing Christmas and received lots of goodies to try out well into the New Year 🙂
I don’t know about you, but this winter weather is destroying my skin. My usual skincare routine is just not working now that my skin has become a lot more dry thanks to the sudden changes in temperature and central heating, so I thought I’d let you guys in on my secret to beating dry winter skin with only 6 products!
Don’t worry, I’m far from becoming a high end skincare queen but oh my god – listen. I received a good sample size of this cleanser in a beauty box a few months ago and added it to my ever growing ‘to try’ pile and finally got round to trying it once it started to snow here in the UK (perfect timing, thanks Universe!). After using this cleanser over a handful of times, it is now officially my favourite cleanser of all time (even overtaking my love for my L’Oreal Fine Flowers Gel Cream Wash). It has a gorgeous bougie scent that reminds me of a soap you would find in a fancy hotel, but more importantly this cleanser has worked wonders for my skin. Nothing I have ever used before has cleared out and minimized my pours as much as this, I’m honestly amazed – it even got rid of some pesky spots I’d had for a while! After using this product just once, all the pores on my nose were clear and my skin texture was evened out which made applying foundation so much easier. I’m super pissed that I will have to pay £23.50 to repurchase but a little goes a long way, so this is definitely a product worth the splurge!
There’s nothing worse than tight, dry skin when you’re trying to achieve a flawless base. Sick of oil based moisturisers that made me feel slimy and clogged my pores, I picked up the Neutrogena Hydro Boost Water Gel up on a whim. It has a gorgeous fresh scent that makes me think of sitting on the beach with a mojito and is so cooling and moisturising that it is perfect for before makeup as it stays slightly tacky which helps foundation stay in place longer. You only need a tiny amount of product for your entire face so this jar has lasted me all the way through autumn and winter with half a jar still remaining.
This product also came in said beauty box I mentioned earlier and it has really being a saving grace. I always get really dry skin on and around my eyes, so the cold weather has made it even worse! After one use of this product I started seeing a difference, the lines around my eyes are noticeably smoother as well as being a lot more hydrated. I use this eye cream day and night however I don’t suggest using this before makeup as it is quite thick and I’ve found can cause your under eye concealer to separate and look patchy. For £21 this eye cream is on the more pricey side however you only need a tiny amount and it really does do the job.
I have very dry eczema prone hands, so winter has truly hit me like a wrecking ball this year. I don’t like to use scented products on my hands due to this so I’ve been on the hunt for a more natural hand cream, alas I found this Skin Relief cream from Aveeno. Due to the au natural ingredients, it does smell like porridge oats…not joking . Despite the quite horrific scent, this product is very cooling and hydrating without feeling sticky and leaving residue (sorry, horrible word!) everywhere.
If I had a pound for every time I mentioned Burt’s Bees here on my blog…actually, if I could lose a pound every time that would be fab! Nothing is worse than wanting to wear a sassy red or plum lip for winter but having crusty prune lips, not cute. Burt’s Bees lip balms are the best, if you don’t believe me then you haven’t tried them. The original balm, with the yellow cap, provides super long lasting hydration as well as being very minty which I love!
Lately, winter has got my lips feeling like this…
When I start to resemble Spongebob, I know it’s time to get the big guns out. I love to apply Blistex on top of my Burt’s Bees lip balm to lock in the moisture overnight and act as a lip mask of sorts, and it works a treat!
